According to sources, the Indianapolis Colts have made an offer to quarterback David Garrard and are now awaiting his decision. Garrard’s wants a multi-year deal with an opportunity to start. The Colts can’t really offer either.
Garrard has been offered a one year deal from several teams that are in need of a veteran quarterback. The teams that have made the short list are the Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers and the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Dolphins are said to be Garrard’s first choice allowing him to stay in Florida. Chad Henne played well against the Patriots this weekend making the Dolphins less eager to sign Garrard.
The Colts would appear to have a leg up in the race for Garrard’s services. The Colts appear unsettled at quarterback after an underwhelming performance from Kerry Collins this past weekend. Garrard knows the AFC South opponents well and would welcome the opportunity to play against his former team. A good season with the Colts this year could help Garrard secure the multi-year deal he wants.
